What Easter Means To Me

Writer's picture: Genelle AsamoahGenelle Asamoah

I made a perfect man impure.

I made the sinless and spotless Lamb of God dirty.

My sins stripped Jesus away from the perfection found in the presence of God.

It is all, totally, and completely my fault Jesus died.

It was my punishment that should've been death.

I should've been the one on that Cross.

I was the one who deserved death.

I deserved an eternity away from God in He.

I am the impure one.

I am the sinful and blemished one.

I am the one who messed up yesterday, and I will indefinitely mess up again tomorrow.

Death was my price to pay.

But Jesus.

Jesus didn't have to take on my sins and mistakes; He chose to.

He chose to go to that Cross for me.

He chose to be tortured for me.

He chose to be ridiculed and humiliated in the most excruciating way possible for me.

He took my place.

He took my punishment.

He took my pain.

He took my place.

Jesus went to the Cross so that I didn't have to.

He knew that He'd suffer in ways I can't even imagine, yet still He took it on for me.

Because Jesus took my place, I don't have to pay the price for the punishment I deserve.

Jesus went to the Cross because I am worth it.

He chose death to bridge a gap I could never bridge on my own.

And because He resurrected, I have a new hope and the great gift of everlasting life.
