Not Too Weak, Nor Too Deaf

Isaiah 59:1 (NLT)

"Listen! The Lord’s arm is not too weak to save you, nor is his ear too deaf to hear you call."

Just the other day, I ended up playing a good ol' round of a game I like to call "Bible Roulette (which is where you just randomly open up to a page of your Bible and read whatever you end up finding ;)," and I came across this verse in Isaiah.

It starts by telling us that the arm of the Lord is not too weak to save us. That means there is no tunnel too deep, no valley too low, and no shame too heavy for Him to pull us up and out from. His arm is never too weak to save us

The second part of this verse is as powerful and speaks to the depths of my soul. The Lord isn't deaf, so it's not like He can't hear our cries and prayers. What truly happens is that our answers are scheduled according to His timing, not ours. Now, I don't know about you, but let me tell you, that spoke volumes to me. So many times, we cry out to the Lord but become discouraged when we get no answer and automatically assume that He cannot hear us. This verse is the rebuttal to those feelings. Jesus does hear when you call out to Him, and He cares. It is the complete and total trust in Him that is hard for you and me as people to do.

I think that is why this verse is such a great encouragement to our souls; being able to trust that the Lord will not let you fall but will instead hold you up with the might of His righteous hands, as well as believing that He is not deaf, and hears us when we call out to Him, falls into play for our advantage.
