I Have Questions Series: Prayer

As inquisitive people, we all have questions. Whether it be something about what we see here on Earth, or even something as complex as what we cannot see and might not fully comprehend, we all will still have questions. The same thing is true for our faith. So many times, these questions about who God is, and what goes on in the world He made just run rampant in our minds. That is why we are taking this next month to focus on some common questions you all have about our faith. We are going to be taking the time to dive deep into the Bible, find out what exactly it has to say on these things, and prayerfully gain some insight and answers. We pray that this series touches you in a way like never before and that you receive some understanding of what the Word of God has to say, but also reassurance in knowing that you are not the only one with questions.

What Is Prayer, And How Can I Engage In It?

When you are around any individual(s), what is something that is crucial for your time spent together to not be awkward? You have to talk, am I right? Just catching up on life or debriefing on your circumstances with another is a great way to build (up) relationships. The same thing goes for our relationship with God: in order to fully engage with Him, it is paramount that we at least talk to Him. Now the question is, how do we do that? How do we talk to God? After all, it is not like He is an animate being we can go out to brunch with as we please, nor can we FaceTime or iMessage Him. (In this case,) God is beyond our physical means, so we'll still need a way to connect with Him. Thankfully, God gave us this great gift called prayer.

Prayer is how we can connect with God on a more intimate, raw, and personal level. No ritual or checklist of requirements is needed to pray. All that's needed is a ready and willing heart wanting to open up to the Lord and receive something in exchange. The best part about prayer is having confidence in the fact that God not only listens to what we are saying, but He is faithful and consistent enough to hear and care about what we are saying.

1 Thessalonians 5:17, Luke 18:1, and so many other verses encourage and remind us to never stop praying but to instead constantly and consistently stay in an attitude that is sensitive to the Heart of God and intentionally abide in His presence at all times.

Another theme of prayer that is extremely important is to pray for anything and everything we feel laid to pray about and have faith to back it up as well. Thankfully, God doesn't have some "maximum capacity" when it comes to prayers, but as long as we have complete and total faith in what we are bringing to Him, it will come to pass in His timing, as said in both Psalms 66:19, and Matthew 21:22.

In essence, prayer is the free and unlimited way we can connect with our Heavenly Father, and it helps to strengthen our relationship with Him, just as it would with a friend. It also helps to be reminded and encouraged to know that with having faith backing up our prayers and petitions, God has promised to show up and show off in our lives.

END OF THE YEAR MESSAGE FROM GENELLE!

Dearest Philanthropical Faith Family Members,

We are nearing our one year anniversary! This means that for the past (almost) year now, The Philanthropical Faith is still here, and is a great testament of the faithfulness of God, and we want to take some time to reflect on that goodness!

From our very first devotional that came from my favorite Bible verse, Philippians 4:6-7, to growing to having member and readers all across the globe, and even establishing not just one, but two thriving social media platforms, we could not be more grateful! God is good; doing this has been nothing but a labor of love, as I have strived to be intentional in the way I run and manage this devotional, as well as taking the time to deeply study the Word of God, and what I feel Him lay on my heart, yet He is still good to me.

With this season of old coming to a close, there are incredible and great new things on their way, and I declare over this platform that what is coming for you and me will be greater than the latter, in Jesus' name.

I love you family!

<3 Genelle
