Proverbs 8:1-11

"Listen as Wisdom calls out! Hear as understanding raises her voice! On the hilltop along the road, she takes her stand at the crossroads. By the gates at the entrance to the town, on the road leading in, she cries aloud, “I call to you, to all of you! I raise my voice to all people. You simple people, use good judgment. You foolish people, show some understanding. Listen to me! For I have important things to tell you. Everything I say is right, for I speak the truth and detest every kind of deception. My advice is wholesome. There is nothing devious or crooked in it. My words are plain to anyone with understanding, clear to those with knowledge. Choose my instruction rather than silver, and knowledge rather than pure gold. For wisdom is far more valuable than rubies. Nothing you desire can compare with it."

The wisdom of the Lord is given to us to be used as an aid as we go throughout our lives. Everything that comes from the mouth of the Lord is right and filled with truth. His advice is pure and wholesome, and in it, there is no blemish. God's words are clear and cut straight to the point whenever we need advice on how to live lives that are honoring Him. There is no devious or crooked hidden trap in the Word of God, and unlike thoughts from the enemy, the wisdom God gives us has value. The Bible says that his instructions and wisdom have far much more worth and value than gold and silver do! No materialistic gem can even compare to the gift that you and I have: Wisdom from the Lord.

Proverbs 8:32-35 "And so, my children, listen to me, for all who follow my ways are joyful. Listen to my instruction and be wise. Don’t ignore it. Joyful are those who listen to me, watching for me daily at my gates, waiting for me outside my home! For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord."

Wisdom from the Lord doesn't just help lead to knowing which path of live we are to follow, nor what decisions we are to make. It also does so much more than just give us a special benefit that comes with knowing Jesus. At its roots, wisdom brings joy. When we follow in the ways of the Lord, we are promised to be joyful. When we listen and obey the instructions the Lord has laid out for us, we are joyful. When we find out about the hope and life eternal that comes with living a life obedient and set apart for the Lord, we have joy! Wisdom does so much for our minds and hearts, but how often do we truly take the time to reflect on the joy it brings to our souls?
