Proverbs 26:1-26
V1: "Honor is no more associated with fools than snow with summer or rain with harvest."
Because of the intense high temperatures associated with the heat the season of summer brings, snow is never even a consideration. The same thing goes with a season of rain during the season of harvest. That drastic contrast compares how honor is to fools. Honor is for the wise, and foolish people who choose not to follow the path of wisdom, and can, therefore, never be honored.
VS 21-22: "A quarrelsome person starts fights as easily as hot embers light charcoal or fire lights wood. Rumors are dainty morsels that sink deep into one’s heart."
Having a hot temper and striving to always stir up strife is just as harmful to one's soul as an out-of-control fire. The spirit behind quarrels and arguments is against peace and the things of the Lord. This is why it is so important that we let wisdom guide our lives and not foolish things that will lead us astray and down the wrong path.
VS 24-26: "People may cover their hatred with pleasant words, but they’re deceiving you. They pretend to be kind but don’t believe them. Their hearts are full of many evils. While their hatred may be concealed by trickery, their wrongdoing will be exposed in public."
Because of the kind of world we live in, sin and sinners always run rampant. There are even people who would go as far as to deception and dishonesty, to try and trick the Godly into thinking they are leading them down the right path, when in all honesty, they aren't. Those people are not of the Lord, and the way we avoid falling into their trap is through discernment and insight from the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.
We do have hope: any malicious intent these dishonest fools had in mind will be exposed. The Lord, in His faithfulness, never lets the sinful get away with what they have done!
