Proverbs 24:1-16

VS 1-2: "Don’t envy evil people or desire their company. For their hearts plot violence, and their words always stir up trouble."

Evil and foolish people are the kind of people we should never strive to be like. These verses strongly warn us of the harm that comes with envying them or desiring their company, as they are people of violence, trouble, and harm.

VS 5-6: "The wise are mightier than the strong, and those with knowledge grow stronger and stronger. So don’t go to war without wise guidance; victory depends on having many advisers."

Wisdom is more valuable and helpful to us than even strength is. The Bible says that the wise are mightier even than the strong are as those who are filled with knowledge grow in strength.

VS 8-9: "A person who plans evil will get a reputation as a troublemaker. The schemes of a fool are sinful; everyone detests a mocker."

The stain that evil and sin leaves behind on a person tarnishes their identity. When one choosea to lead a life rooted in that lifestyle, they are no longer labeled as a Child of God, but instead, a wayward troublemaker. A life of sin has no place in the presence of God.

VS 13-14: "My child, eat honey, for it is good, and the honeycomb is sweet to the taste. In the same way, wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, you will have a bright future, and your hopes will not be cut short."

Much like honey, Godly wisdom is sweet and delightful to the soul. Verse 14 talks about the blessings that come when you find wisdom: you will have a bright and hope-filled future.

V16: "The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked."

The difference between falling short as a Child of God, and falling short as a child of the world is hope, or the lack of it. The enemy will try his hardest to make God's people stumble, but they have hope and will rise up again. Sadly, the same can't be said for the wicked: when they fall into the traps the world has laid out for them to fall into, they submit to sin and stumble.
