Proverbs 16:9 NLT
“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps."
How often do you pray the dangerous prayer of "Lord, totally and completely overtake my agenda, and my plans, and do whatever you see fit with them, and the rest of my life while you're at it?" If we're going to be honest, I would assume that this isn't one we are constantly praying for, and trust me, I am right there with you.
My question is that what is stopping you and me from praying that? At the end of the day, God is in control of our lives, so why not just (if I may) get it over with, submit our lives to Him, and trust Him to take the wheel of our lives as He sees fit! What is stopping us is knowing that it is a dangerous prayer to pray. To have the courage to trust the Lord to "take over" our days is frightening. So many times, we have this agenda that we create and are so set on following through with when really, it is not us who are in control, but the things that the Lord has set out before us that matter. I want to encourage you today to know that when situations and circumstances arise in your life that have been deemed as "not being on the schedule," always remember that God is in control. After all, our prayer should be for things to be not on our agenda but the Lord's.
Prayer:
Lord, from this moment on, let me pray prayers not of my will, but of Yours to be done in my life. Help me to not get caught up in my set agenda, but to instead be submissive to Your will and way. I love You Lord.
