Living Different

Romans 12:2 (NLT)

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”

When we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we became believers. That meant choosing to leave our old lives of sin behind to live anew in and for Him. Being different and set apart from the rest of the world is a result of being transformed by Christ.

This verse in Romans reminds and encourages you and me to abstain from copying the behaviors and customs a worldly way of living promotes, but instead live as the transformed creation God made and redeemed you to be. Not only do our redemption and salvation affect how we act, but it also penetrates our thoughts. Having Jesus living and moving in us allows us to think in a way inspired and directed by Him and pleases Him too!

Being set apart is God's will for us believers, as it gives us the chance to be the change that our lost world needs. After all, we have been called to live different for a reason.
