Live In Love

The word love is a powerful one. In fact, I think we can throw it around way too frequently due to its familiarity. Think about it; it is so easy to say "I love you," but do we really mean it? At its root, love is a great affection that comes from deep within. Let's dive into Paul's teachings on the importance of love and the great weight it carries.

1 Corinthians 13:1-3 (NLT)

"If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn’t love others, I would have gained nothing."

The point that Paul is trying to make is that doing anything without love is worthless. You could speak every language on earth and in Heaven but speak without love, and it is pointless. You could prophecy for others and see into the heart of God and know all but do it without love, and those words mean nothing. You could yield the strength to move literal mountains, but do it without love, it is meaningless. The part that I find most heavy is that you could give all of your things away to the poor and sacrifice your body, but doing it without love gives you nothing to boast or be proud about.

I think that this goes to say just how important love truly is. Anything and everything that you find yourself doing must come out of the place of love in order for it to be validated. You could do all of these amazing things "in God's name," but do them without love, and it is pointless. Love is so much more than a heart attitude; it is a lifestyle. So, as you go about your day today, remember to live in love.

Prayer:

Lord, help me to live a life of love. Please, give me guidance when it comes to loving those around me. Let me make it more than an attitude, but a whole lifestyle.

In Jesus Name,

Amen
