I Want To Please You

Psalm 19:14 NLT

"May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”

"Your words have power." I'm sure that is a phrase you have heard of before. As simple and cliche as this aphorism may sound, it is true. Our worlds have power and should always be pleasing to God. In all honesty, as humans, we will most definitely say something that may not be pleasing to the Lord. Our great hope is that forgiveness and redemption are always available. In this verse, David refers to God as our rock and our redeemer. One of the features of a rock is its steadiness. Rocks tend to be firm, and unmovable. When it comes to redemption, that is the act of saving someone from wrongdoings. When you combine those two attributes of the Father, you can rest assured knowing that even if your speech doesn't always glorify Him, there is hope for you.

The same thing goes for the meditations of our hearts. Another word for meditation (in this context) is something like thoughts or even something you take the time to ponder on. God knows the deepest thoughts and concerns of our hearts, even if others may not. As people, the things we choose to think about and dwell upon, tend to have an effect on our outward life as well. If what you are thinking is not pleasing to God, the way you act and speak will not bring Him glory either. In essence, let all you say, think about, and do, bring pleasure to the Lord.

Prayer:

Lord, please help me to please You in the things that I say, and the attitude of my heart. I thank You for your steadfast, and never-ending forgiveness, You so willingly share with us.

I love you Lord.

Amen
