I Am Who I Am Through Faith

Galatians 3:26-29 (NLT)

"For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.

What is the one thing that unifies all believers? It is our faith! Our faith in the Lord is what unites all of us as believers. It is as simple as that; we all heard the Gospel message, choose to accept it, and we can say we are children of the Most High together!

In addition to joining the Heavenly family we are a part of for eternity, we need to be washed clean of our sins through baptism. When you are placed into the water, it is as if you are literally burying your sins in that water and leaving your sinful life behind. Then when you come up, it symbolizes being raised as a new creation, one that has ditched the hold of sin over their lives for good.

So, since we are now one family united through faith and cleansed through baptismal waters, we have no barriers that separate us from the Lord. Our ethnic backgrounds and nationalities can no longer have any hindering hold over our eternity in Heaven. Our social status has nothing to do with God loving you any more or less. Not even your gender can change how worthy or unworthy of the Gospel you are. When God looks at us, He sees worthy, chosen, and loved people. We are His children. In fact, the last verse calls us heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven. That means that because we are believers, an eternity with the Father is a gift we inherited through our salvation. It is our faith in the Lord that makes us who we are. My identity is in Him and Him alone.

Prayer:

Lord, I thank You for the gift of salvation. I thank You that I get to be called Your Child, and I thank You for the family I get to spend eternity with in Heaven. I am grateful that nothing can keep me from You and Your presence Lord. I love You.
