John 3:16-17 (NLT) Part 2
"For God loved the world so much that He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.
John 3:16 is one of the most referenced passages of Scripture ever. In fact, it is literally known as "The Christian Motto." But what happens when you truly break down what John was saying, and then apply that to your life?
Last week, we learned that the reason God gave us His Son was to bring the great gift of salvation, which ends in eternal life with Him! Verse 17 expands on that point and gives us more insight into why Jesus came to the world. John tells us that "God did not send His Son into the world to judge the world, but to save us through Him."
The definition of the word judge is to decide on something which can lead to a conclusion of freedom or condemnation. The hope that we have is knowing that Jesus did not come to do this to us. Jesus saw our sin as separation between the Father and us, and He came to rescue us from that. In closing, remember that Jesus chose to bring you the gift of freedom from the grip of sin and death instead of condemnation for your transgressions. You have a choice to accept that gift. If you are ready and would like to live a life starting with Your Salvation story, pray this prayer below.
Prayer:
Dear Lord,
I know that I am a sinner. Lord, I deserved death and an eternity without You, but You still wanted me, despite my flaws. Thank You for sending Jesus into this world simply because You love me and couldn't bear the thought of eternity without me. Father, help me live a life where You are my Lord and the one I choose to serve. I thank You for this new day that brings new hope of an eternity with You forevermore!
Amen
